AUDITIONS FALL 2023
Uniting Voices will be offering in-person auditions in 2023!
Auditions will be held in the Aliso Beach A Boardroom (Room A307) in the Student Center (above the food court—you can find a map here). You will be asked a few questions so we can get to know you, show off your vocal range, and perform a solo of your choice (a verse and chorus, no longer than 1:30).
Virtual auditions will not be offered this year, unless you are completely unable to attend in-person. Please message us directly if you are in this situation.
In-person auditions will be held from 4:00pm to 8:00pm on September 27th, 28th, and 29th. There are NO sign-up slots, it is walk-in only. Come at whatever time works best for you!
Please contact us via email or Instagram if you have any questions!
What song should I prepare?
We've had members audition with everything from John Legend to opera. Show us what best showcases you as an artist!
DO I HAVE TO FILM MY AUDITION in ONE VIDEO? (VIRTUAL ONLY)
No, you can either do it as one video (either as one take or edited together) or multiple videos.
ARE THERE ANY OTHER GUIDELINES FOR THE AUDITION VIDEO? (VIRTUAL ONLY)
Not really—just do your best to film it so we can hear you clearly and get a sense of your voice. If there's something we can't get from your submission, we will contact you to hear more.
WILL SUBMITTING BOTH VIRTUAL AND IN-PERSON INCREASE MY CHANCES OF GETTING IN? (VIRTUAL ONLY)
Although we love seeing and meeting all of our auditionees, please do NOT submit both virtual and in-person auditions; just pick whatever is easiest and most convenient for you.
SHOULD I DO VIRTUAL OR IN-PERSON AUDITIONS? IS ONE BETTER THAN THE OTHER? (VIRTUAL ONLY)
Both types of auditions will be evaluated equally. Do whatever you feel most comfortable with!
WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS FOR THE YEAR? WILL YOU BE HAVING IN-PERSON MEETINGS?
Currently, we plan on having regular, in-person meetings while fully following campus and government safety measures. However, we are prepared to change our methods of meeting if protocols change in the future.
How Often do you meet?
We're planning to have group rehearsals twice a week, though this might change in the future.
I DIDN'T GET A CALLBACK, OR I DIDN'T MAKE IT THROUGH CALLBACKS. SHOULD I GIVE UP ON MY A CAPPELLA DREAMS?
ABSOLUTELY NOT. Every year, we look for specific people and can only admit a select few. We strongly encourage people to resubmit, and we've definitely admitted members on their second audition.
do i have to sign up for in-person auditions?
There is no sign up process for in-person auditions. Simply show up at any of the dates and times listed above and wait for us to call you in!
